Persistent Müllerian derivatives, also known as Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is an intersex variation in which an individual with 46,XY chromosomes and testes is found to also have structures that derive from the Müllerian ducts such as a uterus or fallopian tubes[3][4][5]. Inter-agender, more commonly spelled interagender[1][2], is an intersex-exclusive gender term for when an individual is agender in a way that is specifically connected or linked to being intersex. It is also known as ingender, intergenderless, internullgender, and vacagender[3][4]. (Read more).

Eugenics and scientific racism played major roles in the how the category of intersex is understood in the contemporary era[1][2]. Scientists working in this paradigm believed that being intersex was a sign of being "less evolved", and argued that black people were more likely to be intersex than white people in an effort to "prove" the supposed racial superiority of the "Caucasian" race[1][2].
